English translator for international charities and non-profits.
Your organisation needs to communicate clearly across languages and cultures, but you don’t have the in-house capacity to make that happen.
The quick fixes promised by machine translation or large agencies don’t live up to their claims, with clunky phrasing, lost nuance and robotic content.
Cultural context gets flattened. Tone falls flat. When the stakes involve your reputation with donors, stakeholders or the communities you serve, ‘close enough’ isn't good enough.
With 20+ years translating documents from French, Spanish and Portuguese into English for purpose-driven organisations, I bring the human judgement that software and big translation agencies simply can't.
I understand what your words say, what they mean, AND what they need to do.

20+ years of helping clients make a global impact
When the English versions of your publications communicate your mission with clarity and cultural intelligence, they become more than just ‘versions’; they help you inform, influence and persuade the people who need to read them.
Whether your work is focused on food systems and food security, food safety, poverty and inequality, climate change and sustainability, health and wellbeing, education and skills or gender equality, your content deserves the same care and attention, with your unique voice and reputation kept intact.
What changes when you work with a specialist development sector translator?
I help impact-focused international organisations and charities turn complex or multilingual content into clear, credible English that works across cultures.
If you’re a subject expert, research institute, think-tank, NGO, charity or consultancy working on issues that matter, I can help you communicate with precision.

The process from start to finish
-
1. Consultation
We discuss what you need, and I ask you about your house style and the ‘brief’. That’s how I get to know your organisation, tone of voice and values.
-
2. Agreement
We establish a timescale that ensures important targets are met. Confidentiality and on-time delivery are a standard part of every project.
-
3. The work
Behind the scenes, I work methodically, producing multiple drafts. I liaise with you to clarify terms, concepts and phrasing when needed.
-
4. Delivery
What you get back: publication-ready English, together with clear notes explaining stylistic decisions and any open questions.
“The quality of the legal English translations of our COPEN training Modules for practitioners in the area of judicial cooperation in criminal matters meets our high standards.”

Questions?

As a general guideline, I aim to translate approximately 2,000 words (approximately 4 standard pages) per working day.
-
No; as a qualified translator in the UK, I translate only into my own native language, which is English.

Each job gets a customised quotation according to your needs. You may simply require a summary or, in a copy-editing project, some degree of rewriting.
The price for a translation of 1,000 words would start at around £100.
